I’ve always heard that you should take your vitamins with food to help them be absorbed by your body-is this true? Would there still be benifts from my morning vitamins if I take them on an empty stomach then eat perhaps an hour later?

Well, I suppose you could still receive the nutrients from your morning vitamins if you took them before you ate and ate an hour later, although I wouldn’t really do it. The reason why the nutrients are better absorbed while you are eating is because your stomach registers the fact that you’re eating and sends the digestive tract into gear, enabling your vitamins to be put to better use. Some specific vitamins, like a pill for iron deficiency is better absorbed on an empty stomach. But for a multivitamin pill, it’s better just to eat it with your food. Plus, some types of substances such as B vitamins can sometimes cause irritation when taken on an empty stomach. You don’t need to eat a lot, just eat something to satisfy your breakfast and vitamin.
So to sum up, it’s ok to take your vitamins without food, it really depends on what vitamin you’re taking, but I’d rather just take it when I eat. Hope this helps!

There are some vitamins (a, d, e, and k) that can only be absorbed with fat. So if you don’t mind not absorbing these vitamins, go ahead, take your vitamin pill on an empty stomach.
